Public Schools Purpose was to Destroy a Child's Christian Belief

I never believed that the public school's focus was to destroy a child's christian belief until I read the views of the original signers of the Humanist Manifesto of 1933. Charles F. Potter, one of the signers of the Humanist Manifesto, wrote this:

"Education is thus a most powerful ally of humanism, and every public school is a school of humanism. What can the theistic Sunday school, meeting for an hour once a week, and teaching only a fraction of the children, do to stem the tide of a five-day program of humanistic teachings?"

The original signers of the humanist manifesto had only 1 goal in mind for every child in public schol, to propagate this belief in humanism and to destroy a child's belief in God. He even states: "What can Sunday school, meeting for an hour once a week, and teaching only a fraction of the children to to stem the tide of a 5 day humanistic teaching?"

I now understand why 70-88% of all Christian children that go to public schools end up of losing their faith after their 2nd year in college. Children spend 14,000 hours in a humanistic education that was designed to deter them from faith in God and to teach them to believe in only themselves alone.

Children's Programs in the Church

I started reading a new book, Family Driven Faith by Voddie Baucham Jr. His beliefs are very similar to Kevin Swanson's. He talks about how the majority of Christians believe that the role of the church is to disciple the youth. This is the main reason why 70-88 percent of Christian teens leave the church by their 2nd year in college. Parents do not believe that their role is to disciple their own kids! He goes on to say that the bible clearly says that the role of discipleship is with the parents and not the church. The church's main role is to "equip the saints for the work of ministry" (Ephesians 4:12). We, as parents, need to take the responsibility to not only disciple our own children but to also share this same message with passion to other believers. My prayer is for my wife and I to learn from God everyday how to disciple and love our 2 sons, Joshua and Caleb.

4:14 Window

I was listening again to Kevin Swanson's Podcast and heard him talk about the 4:14 window. This is the window of age from 4 to 14 that statistics have shown that parents have the best influence on their kids especially in terms of salvation and raising their kids to believe in Christ. I realized that my main goal is to disciple especially in these early years to know and love Christ. The church today has not focused on dads and their involvement in their children's lives. Too often parents get mad at the youth programs/kids programs for the development of their children's faith when they forget that it is their main responsibility mandated from God to raise their children in the faith.
