Before even thinking about homeschooling I asked this same question: "Will my kids be socialized? or even Will they have enough peer interaction?" About a couple years ago my first thought was that they would get their socialization through church, homeschooling co-op programs, sports, and play dates. This was my justification/answer to this common question to homeschooling parents.
I realized today that the real answer could be with these series of questions? Who do you want to influence your children? Who do you want to shape your child's character? Who do you want to teach your children about sex, relationships, and God? If you want peers to teach your children then by all mean send them to public schools but if you want to be the one that teaches them about character, sex, relationships, God, family, then take them out of the public school.
Another thought is that socialization is really the indoctrination of government's worldview. It's the government's indoctrination of our children through public schools that has led to America's decline. I didn't realize that going through 13 years of public school shaped my worldview. Do I want the government to dictate what kind of worldview my sons should have? No! I want my sons to grow up with a biblical worldview. I actually think that I need to some influencing and teaching for myself so that I can get a proper biblical world view of all aspects of life.
Looks like homeschooling is exploding!!!
